    The mission of Galveston ISD is to Educate, Engage and Empower EACH student for a life of Excellence

    Galveston ISD offers charter schools, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) programs, magnet schools, and a Mega-Magnet High School with four smaller learning communities. Students are aided by open enrollment as well as the absence of school zones throughout the district.

    Registration Process


    When: April 1 - May 30, 2019

    Who: Returning Students/Currently Enrolled Students - Students that are already existing students in GISD must REGISTER every year at their current campus.

    How: Visit www.gisd.org/registration. A family access login and password is necessary to proceed with registration. If you do not know your login, please contact your family access coordinator at your child's campus.

    What You Need: You will need the following documents to register your child: A copy of parent or guardian identification and a copy of one utility bill in the parent or guardian's name.

    Standard Response Protocol

    With the help of our wonderful Ball High School students, we put together a quick video explaining each Standard Response Protocol.

    The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) provides consistent, clear, shared language and actions among all students, staff and first responders, that can be applied in any emergency. Click here to learn more.

    Your child’s STAAR scores will be posted to the Texas Education Agency Texas Assessment Data Portal.  You can view your child’s scores by going to the link below.  Simply fill in the requested information to find your child’s unique access code.

  • Galveston ISD Announces New Athletic Director

    The District is excited to announce that Walter Fortune will join the Galveston ISD team as the New Athletic Director. The GISD Board of Trustees approved the hire of Fortune late Tuesday evening with a unanimous vote in his favor.

  • Three GISD Campuses Honored at the National Magnet Schools of America Conference

    The GISD Magnet team traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the 2019 National Magnet Schools of America Conference. While attending the conference, Ball High Media Arts & Digital Technology Community and Oppe Elementary Magnet Campus of Coastal Studies were recognized as National Certified Magnet Schools and Collegiate Academy was recognized as one of 19 National Demonstration Schools.

  • The GISD Communications Team Brings Home 18 Awards from the Annual TSPRA Conference

    Galveston Independent School District’s communications team traveled to Bastrop, Texas to attend the 2019 annual conference of the Texas School Public Relations Association. The Galveston ISD communications team competes in the TSPRA “Star Awards Celebration” and attends multiple conference sessions to learn new skills and to enhance their public relations outreach. This year, the communications team came home with eighteen awards.
