The University of Minnesota Duluth is committed to insuring that its student-athletes, staff, faculty, alumni and friends abide by the letter and the spirit of NCAA, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and University rules and regulations. We are proud to have the loyal support of, and continued interest in, its athletic programs by our alumni and friends. As we strive for excellence, we must always seek the highest standard of ethical conduct. We believe that it is the responsibility of all of us who work in the compliance area to identify and reduce areas of risk within the athletic program that could negatively impact UMD, its athletic teams and student-athletes. If a problem arises, it is our responsibility to determine how the problem occurred, how it could have been prevented and how to reduce the chances of it occurring in the future.
The two main functions of the Athletic Compliance Office are to educate and monitor. The compliance staff meets with and disseminates information to coaches and student-athletes in providing materials on the applications of the complexities of the NCAA's, the WCHA's and the NSIC's rules and regulations, and, at the same time, provides as much information as possible to the UMD community. By clicking on the links below, you will be able to find information pertaining to many different topics, all of which are important to know and imperative to follow. Unfortunately, we are not always able to provide as much information to the community as we would like. For this reason, if you have a question regarding a rule interpretation, a do or don't, are concerned about an action that you have observed that may be detrimental to our department or on how you can be of service to our athletes and department, we invite you to contact us. We will be more than happy to be of assistance to you.
